The WorkCover Authority of NSW has training courses available for both employers and workers to help them understand the new WorkCover laws coming into effect on January 1 2012.

The training material contained in the employer package has been designed to assist employer associations, group training organisations and other PCBUs (persons conducting a business or undertaking) and industry groups in NSW to deliver a program for their members on the changes that have been introduced by the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

The slides in each of the PowerPoint presentations are marked as either essential or optional. The essential slides form the core of each of the 15 modules. The optional slides provide additional background information and an employer may choose to use them or may simply hide them prior to the presentation if they are not required. The material also includes a facilitator guide.

The courses can be tailored to meet the needs of the workplace and may be delivered as separate modules or as an entire course. 

The worker course has 10 modules and is designed for employee associations and workers.

This course is intended to assist employee associations and workers understand how the work health and safety (WHS) legislation will influence health and safety outcomes in their workplace. The course covers changes in terminology, duties and the roles of health and safety representatives (HSRs), health and safety committees and other authorised representatives. Changes in enforcement, where a breach of WHS occurs, are explained.
