A new education program designed to improve the care of older people
admitted to hospital is being implemented by the North Coast Area
Health Service (NCAHS) in conjunction with Southern Cross University.
Ms Anne Moehead, NCAHS nurse practitioner in psycho-geriatrics said
senior nurse managers had identified the need to develop ‘champions’
because of the growing demand on acute care services from an ageing
population.

Continence Aids Assistance Scheme extended
Eligibility for the Continence Aids Assistance Scheme will be doubled from July to help more people with the cost of purchasing continence aids. Eligibility for the scheme would be extended to include people aged five years and up. At present, the scheme is restricted to those aged 16 to 64 years.
