National Disability Services NSW has begun a project to recruit workers for the disability and community care sectors

The two-year project is a marketing initiative designed to grow the pool of labour available to not-for-profit government and non-government organisation (NGO) providers of disability and community care services in NSW.

It will develop, implement and test a number of targeted attraction strategies and use these to help build a talent pool for services to tap into.

The ability of this project to boost the appeal of the sector will be partially influenced by the many issues that affect workers’ experiences of this sector, many of which lie beyond the scope of the project.

However, when viewed as one component of a wider and integrated workforce response, this project has the potential to strengthen service sustainability by building a suitable labour pool that the sector must nurture and develop.

Project updates and information will be provided on their web page as available http://www.nds.org.au/nsw/recruitment.html
