Female employees today are being more selective about the organisations they want to work for with the Employer of Choice for Women (EOCFW) list making it an easier task to identify them.

A total of 116 Australian companies and organisations have been added to the Employer of Choice for Women list receiving citations awarded by the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA).

Since its introduction in 2001, the list has doubled in size and includes representation from a variety of industries including manufacturing, IT, finance, law, community services, education and hospitality. EOWA increasingly receives enquiries from organisations wanting to add the EOWA citation to their ‘resume’ to give them a much-needed edge in today’s competitive labour market.

These organisations have demonstrated that they have policies and practices in place that support women and that they have had a positive outcome for both women and their business. They typically boast women in higher numbers at senior levels, have succession plans for women in management, develop plans for high achievers, offer paid maternity leave, have high maternity leave retention rates as well as offering flexible workplace practices including the ability to work part time at all levels.

So, if you’re in the market for a new job, you may wish to contact some of these organisations directly as well as using traditional methods to find employment.
