The NPS and FECCA reach out to CALD community with medicines info

The key focus of the National Prescribing Service (NPS) is to improve the use of medicines by health professionals and the Australian community and reduce problems associated with misuse of medicines.

NPS has been working with the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) since 2004 to reach culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities with these important messages.

They have developed a number of free bi-lingual resources to assist CALD seniors, their families, carers and those who work with them.

The following resources can be downloaded as PDFs from the NPS website: http://www.nps.org.au/consumers/tools__and__tips

Bi-lingual Medimate brochures
These brochures help seniors understand and use medicines in partnership with their doctor, pharmacist, nurse, carer and other health professionals. They are available in English, Chinese (traditional), Croatian, Italian, Greek, Macedonian and Vietnamese.

Bi-lingual medicines list for the wallet
The medicines list enables seniors to carry a list of medicines wherever they go. The list folds neatly into a clear plastic wallet. Available in English, Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), Italian, Greek and Vietnamese.

Bi-lingual questions to ask about your medicines
This brochure provides consumers with valuable questions to ask of their doctor or pharmacist to better understand their medicines. The list folds to fit in the medicines list plastic wallet. Available in Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified) and Italian.
